These Terms of Service govern your use of the Select-Drive website at select-drive.com and describe the general terms under which Select-Drive provides driveaway and vehicle transport services. Please read them carefully.

1. About Select-Drive

Select-Drive is a professional driveaway and vehicle transport service operated by Select-Drive LLC, based in Waukee, Iowa. The business was founded by Dan Ketelsen to provide door-to-door vehicle transport for personal, relocation, and business purposes throughout the continental United States. Select-Drive is currently an owner-operated service — Dan personally drives every job. As the business grows, additional vetted drivers may be brought on. Select-Drive is in the process of obtaining federal operating authority (USDOT registration and MC authority) and commercial insurance coverage required for interstate vehicle transport operations.

2. This Website Is Informational

The select-drive.com website is a marketing and informational resource. Visiting this website, browsing its content, or submitting a contact form does not create a service agreement, contract, or commitment of any kind between you and Select-Drive. No service relationship is established until a separate written or verbal service agreement is reached directly between Select-Drive and the client.

3. Service Agreements

All driveaway and vehicle transport engagements are governed by a separate agreement made directly between Select-Drive and the client prior to the start of service. That agreement will specify the route, vehicle, pricing, timeline, and any other relevant terms. Nothing on this website supersedes or modifies a separately negotiated service agreement. Deposits are non-refundable within 48 hours of the scheduled pickup date (see Section 5 for full cancellation terms).

4. Pricing

Pricing information displayed on this website is provided for general informational purposes and represents an estimate only. Final pricing is route-specific and depends on distance, vehicle type, fuel, lodging, and other trip-related expenses. A firm quote will be provided upon request before any service begins.

Published rates are subject to change at any time without notice. The rate in effect at the time a service agreement is finalized governs that engagement.

5. Deposits and Payment

A deposit of 25% of the quoted service price is required to confirm a booking. Deposits are collected via Stripe and are subject to the following cancellation terms:

  • Cancellation 7 or more days before scheduled pickup: Full refund of deposit.
  • Cancellation within 48 hours of scheduled pickup: Deposit is forfeited and non-refundable.
  • Cancellation between 48 hours and 7 days before pickup: Deposit refund at Select-Drive's discretion based on circumstances and costs already incurred.

The remaining balance is due upon delivery or as otherwise agreed in the service agreement.

6. No Guarantee of Delivery Timelines

Select-Drive makes no warranties or guarantees regarding specific delivery dates or times. Trip duration is subject to factors outside our control, including but not limited to:

  • Weather conditions and road closures
  • Traffic delays and construction
  • Mechanical issues with the vehicle being transported
  • Driver availability and scheduling
  • Regulatory requirements and rest mandates
  • Force majeure events

Estimated timelines are provided in good faith but are not contractual commitments.

7. Vehicle Transport and Liability

Vehicles transported by Select-Drive are driven by Dan Ketelsen (owner-operator). As the business grows, additional vetted drivers may be assigned to engagements. All drivers will carry the required qualifications for interstate vehicle transport.

Pre-trip and post-trip vehicle condition inspections with photo documentation are conducted for every engagement to establish a clear record of vehicle condition at pickup and delivery.

Vehicle owners are strongly encouraged to maintain their own comprehensive auto insurance coverage throughout the transport period and to confirm with their insurer that their policy covers driveaway service. Select-Drive is in the process of obtaining commercial auto insurance and cargo insurance coverage (see Section 8). No paid transport services will be performed until all required insurance is in place.

Select-Drive's liability is limited to direct damages caused solely by driver negligence during the transport engagement. Select-Drive is not liable for pre-existing vehicle damage, normal wear, mechanical failure unrelated to driver conduct, or losses arising from events beyond our reasonable control.

8. Insurance Disclosure

Select-Drive is in the process of obtaining USDOT registration, MC operating authority, and commercial insurance coverage required for interstate driveaway operations. The following insurance coverage will be in place before any paid transport services are performed:

  • Commercial auto liability insurance (minimum $750,000 in coverage)
  • Cargo insurance for vehicles in transit

A Certificate of Insurance will be available upon request prior to the start of any service engagement once coverage is obtained. No paid transport will be performed until all required federal authority and insurance are active. Vehicle owners should also review their own personal or business auto insurance policies and confirm coverage during transport with their insurance provider.

9. Future Drivers

Select-Drive is currently owner-operated by Dan Ketelsen. As the business grows, additional drivers may be engaged. Any future hired drivers will be independent contractors (1099) and will not be employees of Select-Drive or Select-Drive LLC. Select-Drive will not be responsible for the actions of drivers outside the scope of the transport engagement. All drivers will be required to comply with applicable federal and state transportation regulations while performing services for Select-Drive.

10. AI Assistant Disclosure

This website uses an AI-powered assistant ("Birdie") to answer questions, provide information about our services, and generate preliminary quotes. Please be aware of the following:

  • AI-generated quotes are estimates only and are not binding until confirmed by a human representative of Select-Drive.
  • The AI assistant does not have the authority to make binding commitments, enter into agreements, or guarantee pricing on behalf of Select-Drive.
  • Information provided by the AI assistant is for general guidance and may not reflect the most current pricing, availability, or service terms.

11. Electronic Communications

Select-Drive may communicate with you via email, SMS, and AI-powered chat. By using our services or submitting an inquiry through this website, you consent to receiving electronic communications from Select-Drive related to your inquiry or service engagement. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time by replying STOP or contacting us directly.

12. Payment Processing

Payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. Select-Drive does not store, process, or have access to your full credit card numbers. All payment transactions are encrypted and processed in accordance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS). Your use of Stripe's payment services is subject to Stripe's Terms of Service.

13. Data Collection

Information about how we collect, use, and protect your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy. By using this website, you acknowledge that you have reviewed and agree to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.

14. Contact Form and Website Use

This website uses Netlify Forms to receive contact and quote request submissions. By submitting a form, you agree to provide accurate information and acknowledge that your submission will be received and stored by Select-Drive and processed by Netlify in accordance with their platform terms. Submitting a contact form is not a binding service request.

You agree not to use this website for any unlawful purpose or in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the site or interfere with any other party's use of it.

15. Third-Party Content and Links

This website may reference or link to third-party services, platforms, or content. Select-Drive is not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or practices of any third-party websites or services. Links to third-party content do not constitute an endorsement.

16. Disclaimer of Warranties

This website and its content are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Select-Drive does not warrant that the website will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of viruses or other harmful components. Information on this website is subject to change without notice.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Select-Drive and Select-Drive LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of this website, reliance on its content, or any transport service engagement. Select-Drive's total liability for any claim related to a transport service engagement shall not exceed the total amount paid by the client for that specific transport service.

18. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Select-Drive, Select-Drive LLC, its owner, drivers, agents, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from or related to:

  • Your vehicle's pre-existing condition, undisclosed mechanical issues, or defects
  • Any misrepresentation of vehicle condition, ownership, or legality
  • Your breach of these Terms of Service
  • Your negligence or willful misconduct

19. Dispute Resolution

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms of Service or to any service provided by Select-Drive shall be resolved through binding arbitration administered in Polk County, Iowa, in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Either party may seek relief in the small claims court of Polk County, Iowa, for disputes within that court's jurisdictional limits as an alternative to arbitration.

You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted on an individual basis and not as part of a class, consolidated, or representative action.

20. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Iowa, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

21. Severability

If any provision of these Terms of Service is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable while preserving its original intent.

22. Changes to These Terms

Select-Drive reserves the right to update or modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of this website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
