How the estimate is built

For a gas vehicle, the calculator uses the same route service as Pilot. Driver pay is $450 per day in half-day increments, with a one-day minimum. A planning day is about 8 driving hours or roughly 500 miles. Gas fuel is planned at about $0.18 per mile, tolls at about $0.02 per mile, lodging at $120 for each planned night, and the insurance surcharge at 8 percent of driver pay. Each positioning leg uses the cheaper feasible option between a round-trip drop-off and a flight plus ground transport. Short-notice planning adds 5 percent, and a future approved booking generally uses a 25 percent deposit.

For an electric vehicle, this calculator does not show a generic numeric total. Charging is billed at documented actual cost with receipts, and charging stops usually make the trip longer than the same route in a gas vehicle.
