RV and motorhome driveaway planning guide
A possible RV driveaway requires individual review of the vehicle rating, dimensions, route, driver qualifications, insurance, and operating requirements. This page is planning guidance, not an offer of currently active interstate transportation.
Last updated: July 26, 2026
Planning status as of July 26, 2026: SelectDrive is accepting route details for planning estimates only while its federal interstate operating authority is pending. No interstate for-hire move will start until the required operating authority is granted and active, and the specific trip has current insurance, vehicle, driver, and signed agreement approvals. A pet that travels well may accompany the vehicle it belongs to, and ordinary belongings that fit safely below the window line may be accommodated, but both require advance disclosure and written approval in the trip agreement. Approval is separate from the price estimate and is never automatic. These accommodations are incidental to delivering the vehicle. SelectDrive does not offer household goods moving, standalone goods delivery, or standalone pet transport. No person may ever travel in the vehicle.
What RV driveaway is
RV driveaway means a professional driver operates the motorhome to its destination rather than loading it onto a specialized transport trailer. Route distance is added to the RV, and fit depends on class, dimensions, weight, endorsements, insurance, condition, weather, and route restrictions. Confirm a provider's active authority and trip documents before releasing an RV.
Who may compare RV driveaway
- Snowbirds moving a motorhome south for the winter and back in spring
- Buyers who purchased an RV out of state and need it driven home
- Owners relocating across the country who would rather not drive a big rig themselves
- Anyone moving an RV to or from seasonal storage
How a future approved trip would work
A signed agreement would identify the approved driver and route window. It would also state whether private tracking, check-ins, and pickup or delivery condition records are included. See the driveaway planning walkthrough.
What an RV would need to qualify
The RV would have to be driveable, road ready, safely operable, currently registered and insured. Any pet or ordinary belongings would require advance written trip approval, with belongings secured below the window line. No person may travel. Vehicle rating and configuration affect safety and driver requirements, so no website statement approves a specific RV or driver.
How planning cost is estimated
A possible RV move would be reviewed individually because fuel use, size, driver qualifications, and route logistics differ from a car. Any planning estimate is preliminary, nonbinding, and does not reserve transportation, a driver, or a date.
Why driveaway for an RV
SelectDrive's planned model would not post accepted customer jobs to an open load board. A future signed agreement would identify the approved driver and state the communication, tracking, and documentation terms. For seasonal route planning, see the snowbird driveaway guide.
Frequently asked questions
Is SelectDrive currently driving RVs to another state?
No. SelectDrive is accepting planning details only while required interstate operating authority is pending. No move will start until authority is active and the specific vehicle, driver, insurance, and signed agreement approvals are complete.
How would RV driveaway pricing be determined?
A future approved RV trip would be priced individually because vehicle size, fuel use, driver qualifications, route limits, and logistics vary. Any planning estimate is preliminary and nonbinding.
Would an RV need to be running?
Yes. A driveaway RV is operated on its own wheels, so it would have to be operable, road ready, registered, insured, and approved for the route.
Evaluating a possible RV route?
Share the RV and route for a nonbinding planning review. This does not reserve transportation, a driver, or a date.
