When a pet or belongings may accompany a vehicle

A pet that travels well may accompany the vehicle it belongs to, and ordinary belongings that fit safely below the window line may be accommodated, but both require advance disclosure and written approval in the trip agreement. Approval is separate from the price estimate and is never automatic.
These accommodations are incidental to delivering the vehicle. SelectDrive does not offer household goods moving, standalone goods delivery, or standalone pet transport. No person may travel in the vehicle.
SelectDrive planning status as of July 26, 2026: SelectDrive is accepting quote and route-planning requests only while required federal interstate operating authority is pending. No interstate for-hire move will begin unless and until that authority is granted and active and the specific vehicle, driver, insurance, route, and signed agreement are approved.
What may accompany the vehicle
SelectDrive may consider ordinary belongings only when they fit safely below the window line, are secured against sudden stops, preserve access to mirrors, controls, and safety equipment, and keep the vehicle within its payload and tire limits. A pet must travel well and be suitable for the assigned vehicle, driver, route, weather, restraint or carrier, care plan, and emergency contacts. The signed agreement identifies what, if anything, is approved.
Why provider rules differ
Trailer carriers and driveaway providers set their own rules based on their contracts, operations, and insurance. Ask each provider what is permitted and what its written agreement covers. SelectDrive considers a pet or ordinary belongings only as an incidental part of an approved vehicle delivery. A website statement or price estimate is not approval.

Written approval, insurance, and inspection
Approval is separate from the price estimate and must appear in the trip agreement. Do not assume any auto or cargo policy covers property left inside the vehicle. High-value items should not travel. Any declared exception outside ordinary belongings requires advance written approval, but prohibited categories remain prohibited. SelectDrive may inspect the vehicle and refuse any pet, item, packing arrangement, or trip that is undeclared, prohibited, unsafe, or outside the signed agreement.
What may never travel
Never pack contraband or illegal or stolen property; firearms, ammunition, explosives, or weapon parts; hazardous materials; cash or negotiable instruments; medication; critical identity documents; irreplaceable valuables; or anything loose or unsafe.
Pet care is part of the vehicle delivery
An approved pet travels only with the vehicle it belongs to. The customer must provide accurate information about the pet, an appropriate restraint or carrier, care instructions, and emergency contacts as required by the signed agreement. SelectDrive does not quote or provide pet-only travel.
Prepare for pickup
- Disclose any proposed pet and the complete item list before the trip agreement is approved
- Secure only approved ordinary belongings below the window line without blocking mirrors, controls, or safety equipment
- Provide the approved pet restraint or carrier, care instructions, and emergency contacts required by the agreement
- Remove every prohibited, undeclared, loose, or unsafe item
- Arrange separate transportation for every person; no passenger may travel in the vehicle
- Follow the signed trip instructions for keys, registration, toll devices, and installed safety equipment
