Plan a future vehicle driveaway.

SelectDrive is accepting preliminary planning requests. Interstate for-hire dispatch will not occur unless and until required operating authority is active and the trip is otherwise approved. A future approved trip may start and end in the lower 48 and would identify the driver before pickup.

What SelectDrive is planning

Future vehicle driveaway planning, with firm limits.

Vehicle Transport

Request preliminary planning for a future approved driver to operate your car, pickup, or SUV from pickup to delivery. No interstate dispatch occurs while required authority is pending.

  • $450 per day, billed in half-day increments
  • One-day minimum
  • EV charging at documented actual cost
  • Condition-documentation terms planned by trip
  • Private tracking planned when supported
  • Vehicle must be running and driveable

A pet may accompany its vehicle

A pet that travels well may accompany the vehicle it belongs to only after advance disclosure and written approval in the trip agreement.

  • The vehicle delivery remains the primary service
  • Approval is separate from the price estimate
  • The assigned driver, route, safety, and care plan matter
  • No standalone pet transport

Ordinary belongings may accompany the vehicle

Ordinary belongings that fit safely below the window line may be accommodated after advance disclosure and written approval in the trip agreement.

  • Every approved item must be secured and safe
  • No household goods moving or standalone goods delivery
  • High-value items should not travel
  • No person may ever travel in the vehicle
Planning assumptions

Standard

3 or more days advance notice in a preliminary plan. Authority and trip approval still control.

Express (+5%)

Under 3 days notice uses a proposed 5% surcharge in planning. It does not override the authority gate.

How the driver gets there

The estimate prices each positioning leg as the cheaper feasible option between a round-trip drop-off and a flight plus ground transport.

How it works

Planning now, dispatch only after approval.

The first two stages are available for planning. Deposit, confirmation, and dispatch must wait until required operating authority is active and the trip is otherwise approved.

Request a Preliminary Plan
  1. 1
    Pending Quote

Chat with Pilot or submit the quote form. Share your route, vehicle type, and preferred dates. Pilot calculates actual driving distance and returns an itemized price breakdown in under a minute.

  2. 2
    Quoted

You receive your quote with itemized driver pay, gas fuel where applicable, tolls, lodging, positioning travel, and insurance surcharge. EV charging is reconciled to documented actual cost. Review at your own pace. No obligation.

  3. 3
    Authority and Trip Approval

No interstate deposit or dispatch step proceeds until required operating authority is active and the vehicle, route, insurance, driver, and written terms are approved.

  4. 4
    Future Confirmation

After the gate clears, the written agreement would identify the assigned driver, handoff details, route plan, and condition-documentation process.

  5. 5
    Future Transit

For an approved dispatched trip, the agreement would control communications, private tracking, milestones, and direct updates.

  6. 6
    Future Completion

For an approved trip, the signed agreement would control delivery, the condition record, and any remaining payment.

Common use cases

More situations than you might expect.

Snowbird travel

Plan a possible future approved trip in which you fly to Arizona, Florida, or another winter destination while an assigned driver operates your vehicle separately.

Out-of-state purchases

For a car bought out of state, plan how a future approved driver could collect it after the sale, documents, road readiness, and handoff process are verified. Start with the out-of-state purchase checklist.

Relocation

During relocation planning, compare a future approved driveaway with driving yourself and authorized trailer transport.

College moves

Plan whether a future approved driveaway could move a student's operable vehicle to campus or home after the term.

Pet accompaniment by written approval

A pet that travels well may accompany its vehicle after advance disclosure and written trip approval. This is part of delivering the vehicle, never a pet-only service.

Incidental ordinary belongings

Ordinary belongings may be approved when secured below the window line. SelectDrive does not provide household goods moving or standalone goods delivery.

RV and motorhome moves

Driving a big motorhome across the country is a lot. SelectDrive can prepare a preliminary plan for a compatible, driveable RV. No interstate dispatch occurs until required authority and trip approval are in place. See RV driveaway.

Military PCS moves

After confirming what your orders authorize, compare driveaway for an operable POV you are arranging privately within the lower 48. See the military PCS car transport guide.

Driver-grade classics

A future approved driver could operate a road-ready classic or restomod on its own wheels. Because that adds road miles, a show or low-mileage collector car that should stay off the road is better on an enclosed carrier.

The platform

Not a broker or trailer marketplace.

SelectDrive is planning a direct vehicle-driveaway model, not an open load-board marketplace. No interstate trip will dispatch until required operating authority is active and the trip is approved.

A named driver, not a load-board handoff

An approved future trip would identify the driver before pickup and would not use an anonymous open load-board handoff.

Preliminary AI estimates

Pilot can build a quick planning estimate from the information provided. It can be wrong or out of date and does not authorize dispatch.

Private trip tracking

An approved future agreement would state whether private tracking is enabled and what location or milestone updates are provided.

Condition documentation

An approved future agreement would state the pickup and delivery condition-record process.

Driver review before assignment

Dan is the owner and current primary driver. Any approved driver must clear SelectDrive's motor-vehicle-record and background review before assignment.

Owner-operated accountability

For a future approved trip, SelectDrive would remain the contracting company and identify the assigned driver rather than use an anonymous load-board handoff.

Transparent payment

No interstate deposit or dispatch step proceeds until required authority is active and the trip is approved. Future payment terms would be written before payment.

Direct accountability

The planned model uses one contracting company, with no broker chain or anonymous load-board handoff.

Who drives your vehicle

Dan Ketelsen. Owner, operator, and primary contact.

Dan owns SelectDrive and remains the current primary driver and customer contact. A future approved trip would identify any assigned driver before pickup.

  • Dan brings 30+ years of Fortune 100 hospitality experience
  • Approved drivers clear an MVR and background review
  • Future trip documents reviewed before any approved dispatch
  • Direct contact planned throughout an approved trip
  • Condition-documentation terms set in the future agreement
  • Daily check-ins planned for approved trips
Why owner-operated matters
01
You know exactly who's driving

A future approved trip would name the assigned driver, whose approval requires MVR and background clearance. There would be no anonymous open-load-board assignment.

02
One point of contact, start to finish

Dan remains the primary company contact, and trip questions can also go directly to the assigned driver after confirmation.

03
Hospitality-grade care

Three decades in elevated Fortune 100 hospitality means anticipating needs, communicating proactively, and treating your vehicle the way you'd want it treated.

FAQ

Common questions answered.

How far in advance do I need to book?

Preliminary estimates use standard planning rates for requests with 3 or more days advance notice and a proposed 5% express line under 3 days. No interstate dispatch will occur unless and until required authority is active and the trip is approved.

How does the day rate work and what does it include?

Pilot uses a $450 per day driver-pay rate billed in half-day increments, with a one-day minimum. The estimate itemizes gas fuel where applicable, tolls, lodging, an 8 percent insurance surcharge on driver pay, and assigned-driver positioning travel. Electric charging is billed at documented actual cost with receipts. The result is preliminary, and no interstate trip proceeds until required authority is active and the trip is approved.

Does my vehicle need to be running?

Yes. A driveaway driver operates the vehicle, so it needs to be running and driveable. If your vehicle isn't running, please call Dan directly at (833) 700-8364 to discuss options.

What is your cancellation policy?

The published policy provides a full deposit refund at least 7 days before pickup, a discretionary refund between 48 hours and 7 days based on incurred costs, and forfeiture within 48 hours. Documented nonrefundable driver travel may be deducted as allowed by the trip agreement and applicable law. The written agreement controls.

Who drives my vehicle?

Dan Ketelsen owns SelectDrive and is the planned primary driver and current customer contact. Any future approved booking would identify the driver before pickup; driver approval requires MVR and background clearance.

Can an animal or personal effects travel with my car?

A pet that travels well may accompany the vehicle it belongs to, and ordinary belongings that fit safely below the window line may be accommodated, but both require advance disclosure and written approval in the trip agreement. Approval is separate from the price estimate and is never automatic. These accommodations are incidental to delivering the vehicle. SelectDrive does not offer household goods moving, standalone goods delivery, or standalone pet transport. No person may ever travel in the vehicle. Review the pets and belongings policy.

Why are there travel costs in my quote?

SelectDrive is based in Des Moines. A preliminary estimate itemizes positioning travel for a future assigned driver. Each leg uses the cheaper feasible option between a round-trip drop-off and a flight plus ground transport.

How does GPS tracking work?

If a future trip is approved and tracking is enabled, the agreement would state what private location or milestone updates and condition documentation are included. A private tracking link should not be posted publicly.
