Prohibited Items and Vehicle Contents
Last updated: July 27, 2026
These are SelectDrive's site terms of service. They are not a substitute for the signed agreement for your trip. The signed agreement may impose stricter rules and always controls if it conflicts with this page.
Before pickup, remove everything that is illegal, dangerous, undisclosed, irreplaceable, or likely to interfere with safe operation. The vehicle owner or authorized customer is responsible for every item placed in the vehicle.
Items that may not be in the vehicle
- Contraband or illegal property: Illegal drugs, stolen property, counterfeit goods, unlawful proceeds, or anything prohibited where the vehicle will travel.
- Firearms and weapons: Firearms, ammunition, explosives, weapon parts, or other weapons, even if the customer may lawfully possess them.
- Hazardous materials: Fuel cans, propane, compressed gas, fireworks, corrosives, toxic chemicals, leaking batteries, radioactive material, or other regulated or unsafe material.
- People, plants, and approved pets: No person may ever travel in or be left in the vehicle. Plants may not travel. A pet that travels well may accompany the vehicle it belongs to only when disclosed in advance and approved in writing in the trip agreement. The agreement must identify the approved pet.
- Cash and financial instruments: Cash, gift cards, negotiable instruments, precious metals, loose gemstones, or cryptocurrency access devices.
- Sensitive records: Passports, birth certificates, tax files, medical records, military orders, titles not needed for the handoff, or other critical original documents.
- Medication and controlled substances: Medication, controlled substances, or medical supplies that should stay with the owner.
- Irreplaceable or unusually valuable property: Jewelry, art, collectibles, antiques, designer goods, electronics, trade inventory, or sentimental items that cannot be replaced.
- Unsafe loads: Loose, leaking, odorous, perishable, oversized, or heavy property that can shift, block visibility, obstruct vehicle controls, exceed a vehicle limit, or prevent access to the spare tire and safety equipment.
Limited accommodation requires written approval
A pet that travels well may accompany the vehicle it belongs to, and ordinary belongings that fit safely below the window line may be accommodated, but both require advance disclosure and written approval in the trip agreement. Approval is separate from the price estimate and is never automatic.
These accommodations are incidental to delivering the vehicle. SelectDrive does not offer household goods moving, standalone goods delivery, or standalone pet transport. No person may ever travel in the vehicle.
No site-wide personal effects dollar limit has been approved. High-value items should not travel, and any declared exception beyond ordinary belongings requires advance written approval. Prohibited or undeclared property is never accepted. Do not assume any auto, cargo, or other policy covers property left inside the vehicle or pet-related loss.
SelectDrive may inspect, refuse, or stop
SelectDrive and the assigned driver may ask to inspect reasonably accessible areas, compare contents with the declaration, request removal of an item, or refuse pickup. The customer may not conceal an item or prevent an agreed inspection. SelectDrive will not open locked containers or break a commercial seal without the lawful owner's direction or other legal authority.
If a prohibited, unsafe, illegal, or materially undeclared item is found after pickup, SelectDrive may stop the trip at a safe and lawful place, contact the customer or authorities, arrange secure storage or return when reasonably available, or terminate the service. The customer is responsible for reasonable resulting towing, storage, lodging, travel, cleaning, legal, and return costs to the extent allowed by the signed agreement and applicable law.
If a vehicle is delayed, impounded, or seized
SelectDrive will notify the customer when legally permitted and will reasonably cooperate with lawful instructions. SelectDrive cannot promise release, delivery, or a particular timeline when police, a court, a regulator, a property owner, or another lawful authority controls the vehicle.
If the event results from customer property, a false statement, missing authority to ship, a legal defect, or a breach of the contents rules, the customer bears the resulting loss, delay, penalties, and reasonable response costs to the extent allowed by law and the signed agreement. Liability for SelectDrive's own negligence is governed by the signed agreement and applicable law.
What to do before pickup
- Remove every prohibited, sensitive, and irreplaceable item.
- Disclose any proposed pet or ordinary belongings before booking and obtain written approval in the trip agreement.
- Secure approved ordinary belongings below the window line without blocking controls, visibility, or safety equipment.
- Remove every undeclared or unapproved item and any unapproved animal.
- Confirm that you own the vehicle or have written authority from the owner to arrange the move.
- Photograph the vehicle interior, trunk, storage areas, odometer, fuel or charge level, and exterior at handoff.
- Tell SelectDrive about any locked compartment, commercial seal, installed safe, firearm mount, unusual odor, warning light, or condition that could raise a reasonable concern.
- Review the Terms of Service and the signed trip agreement before releasing the keys.
Questions before handoff?
Ask during planning. Email support@select-drive.com or call (833) 700-8364. A price estimate does not approve a pet or belongings. The written trip agreement controls.
